28 April-7 May 2006. India is this years guest country in the eighth edition of the Barcelona Asian Film Festival (BAFF), held at the Aribau Club Cinemas, Casa Asia and the CCCB (Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona). As well as recent films from Bollywood, the programme also includes a retrospective of Indian films from the last 15 years. Other sections include D-cinema (digital cinema), Espacio Anime/Nippon Connection (animation and short films), AS (Asian Selection) and special screenings. The inauguration features a film by Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien, Three Times, followed by a free Bollywood Night Party at Drassanes Club at 23.30. Look out for Gold and Silver Digital Award winners from the 30th Hong Kong International Film Festival, Taking Father Home by Ying Liang and Walking on the Wild Side by Han Jie. Admission 5. Espacio Anime and D-cinema at Casa Asia, free. For times and venues see website in Spanish, Catalan and English. The festival closes with a film by Chen Kaige, Wuji (2005), followed by a free party, Bollywood Night II, at the Shoko Club in Barceloneta.
