22-23 Oct 2006. Pablo Picasso designed the sets and costumes for the three one-act ballets to be performed by the Ballet de lOpra national de Bordeaux at Barcelonas Gran Teatre Liceu. Parade, choreographed by Lonide Massine to music by Erik Satie, is a realist ballet inspired by Georges Seurats painting of the same name, and is set in a sideshow at a fairground. Massine also choreographed the piece entitled El Sombrero de Tres Picos (The Three-Cornered Hat), which is based on a Spanish folktale with music by Manuel de Falla. Icare, a retelling of the Greek legend of Icarus, is set to music by choreographer Serge Lifar. All three ballets were originally commissioned by Diaghilevs Ballets Russes. Each has a running time of 45 mins with two intervals of around 20 mins. Admission 89.50-13.25. Performances 22 Oct at 19.00, 23 Oct at 20.30.
