Barcelona International Jazz Festival

27 Oct-5 Dec 2005. Now in its 37th edition, the Voll Damm International Jazz Festival is running for over a month in a variety of venues around Barcelona. Boasting a line-up of exceptional jazz names including Chick Corea and Touchstone, the Lee Konitz Trio and Dave Brubeck, the festival is also host to the New Orleans Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra and the velvety voice of Cesria vora from Cape Verde. The festival kicks off with a tribute to the legendary Charlie Parker at the Palau de la Msica, a world heritage site, which is one of the events main venues. In addition to the concerts, after-hours jam sessions are being held at the Club Luna in the Gran Hotel La Florida on 2 and 3 Dec at 00.30. During the festival master-classes in trumpet, piano, voice and orchestra are on offer at a price of 30 per session, as well as a series of conferences on topics such as The 100 best jazz records ever and Kind of blue how to write a book about a masterpiece.
