Barcelona: Lourdes Grobet: Mexican Lucha Libre Wrestling: Family Portraits

23 Sept-1 Nov. The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) presents an exhibition by Lourdes Grobet, a Mexican artist who has spent the last 30 years documenting one of the most popular sports in her country: Mexican lucha libre wrestling.

Her exhibition explores the traditional sport which is characterised by colourful masks, rapid sequences of holds and "high-flying" manoeuvres.

Grobet's photographic project takes a look behind the scenes, away from the ring, examining the homes, families, social lives and victory celebrations of male and female wrestlers.

The exhibition comprises a previously unpublished series of more than 40 large-format photographs along with the display of wrestling material from the artist’s photographic collection.

The CCCB organises and produces exhibitions, debates, festivals and concerts.

Tues-Sun 11.00-20.00 Thur 11.00-22.00.
