Barcelona Prêt-à-Porter, 1958-2008. Fifty Years of the Fashion Industry

The Palau Robert displays more than 300 garments that provide a look back over half a century of Catalan fashion, showcasing the region's foremost designers, brands, clothing manufacturers and boutiques.

As well as reflecting the changing styles over the last five decades, this era in the fashion industry was also marked by the consolidation of the manufacturing of low-cost, ready-to-wear clothing, a phenomenon that provided an economic boost to the greater Barcelona area.

The exhibition features material from the Antoni de Montpalau Textile Collection which was established in Sabadell, a city 20km north-west of Barcelona, to collect and raise awareness of the region's textile and fashion heritage.

Curated by the historian and art critic Josep Casamartina i Parassols, this is the first time that such a retrospective exhibition has been presented to the Barcelona public.

During the exhibition's duration the clothes on show will be changed twice, first in October and then again in January.

Mon-Sat 10.00-20.00 Sun 10.00-14.30
