14 Oct-26 Feb. The Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris holds a retrospective of the work of Bernard Buffet (1928–1999), the French Expressionist painter and member of the anti-abstract art group L'homme Témoin (the Witness-Man).
Buffet tackled several genres – portraits, still lifes and religious scenes – and numerous themes including literature, history, allegory and death.
The 100 paintings in this exhibition help to understand the oeuvre of the artist whose legacy of more than 8,000 paintings meant he was considered prolific and contentious in equal measure.
Tues-Sun 10.00-18.00. Thurs 10.00-18.00.
