Birth of a Universal Museum: Louvre Abu Dhabi

This exhibition highlights the upcoming opening of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, presenting works from the new museum's collection in Paris for the first time.

The works on show include pieces from history's greatest civilisations up to contemporary times.

The exhibition acts as a preview of the new museum, scheduled to open in Abu Dhabi in December 2015, and showcases the international nature and diverse range of its collection.

Items on show include ancient artefacts from Iran, Greece, Italy and Pakistan as well paintings by Manet, Gauguin, Magritte, Picasso, and the recently deceased Rome-based American painter Cy Twombly.
