Brcke the birth of the German Expressionism

Marking the 100th anniversary of the Brcke artists association, the Brcke Museum and the MuseoThyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid, have organised this far-reaching exhibition with over 200 masterpieces from public and private collections. Brcke was founded by Dresden architecture students Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Fritz Bleyl, Erich Heckel and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff. They were later joined by painters Emil Nolde, Max Pechstein, Cuno Amiet and Otto Mueller. All told, the event is a retrospective of the groups history from its beginnings to its dissolution.
