18-20 Aug 2006. The huge ExCel exhibition venue in East London hosts the Asian Friendship Festival celebrating the vibrant cultures of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Highlights include live cookery demonstrations of the cuisines of Pakistan, north and south India and daily fashion parades featuring saris from India and elegant shalwar kameezs (loose trousers and tunic) from Pakistan. Entertainment is provided by guest stars from Bollywood and Lollywood (Pakistani cinema) and there is a large outdoor area includes a floating golfing green plus activities for water sports enthusiasts. A range of foods from vegetarian to halal as well as ethnic cuisine is on offer, while over 300 stands exhibit speciality wares from health and beauty products to education, travel and business services. Admission 12 ,concessions 9, under-5s free. Daily 10.00-20.00.
