Caravaggio and the Painters of the North

21 June-18 Sept. Exhibition focusing on Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1571-1610) and his influence on the northern European artists that followed him.

The 53 paintings include 12 pieces by Caravaggio, as well as works by Dutch artists Dirk van Baburen, Gerrit van Honthorst and Hendrick Ter Brugghen; Flemish artists Nicolas Régnier and Louis Finson; and French artists Simon Vouet, Claude Vignon and Valentin de Boulogne.

The Caravaggio paintings are on loan from private collections, museums and institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Uffizi in Florence, the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and the church of S. Pietro in Montorio in Rome.
