8 Oct 2005-15 Jan 2006. The poetic universe portrayed in the work of Marc Chagall, (1887-1985) is being presented at the Arken Museum of Art from the perspective of the great Jewish-Russian artists belief in the inspirational power of love. In 1979 Chagall wrote: There is only one colour capable of giving meaning to life and art. This is the colour of Love. Over 180 of his artworks, including paintings, sketches, sculpture and prints, have been brought together by the Copenhagen museum to celebrate Chagalls message of love and tolerance. Despite suffering through two world wars and the persecution of the Jewish people, throughout his long life he maintained his belief that a spark of love can be found in even the smallest things, acting as a bond bringing people together.
