3 Dec 2005-29 Jan 2006. Co. Dublins Lambert Puppet Theatre has put together an up-to-date version of the rags-to-riches classic Cinderella for its festive season pantomime offering this year. Using large-scale rod puppets and colourful sets, this production mines all the comic possibilities of a modern Cinderella, desperate to find Mr Right, saddled with her two Ugly Sisters, Breffni and Adel, who are intent on doing everything they can to ruin her chances. The Lambert Puppet Theatre, which opened in 1972, is Irelands only purpose-built puppet theatre, and is currently run by the third generation of Lambert puppeteers. Every Sept the theatre is host to the International Puppet Festival with guest companies from all over the world. This entertaining production of Cinderella promises a traditional happy ever after finale despite its modern context. Admission 12.50, children 9.00, pensioners, students 10.00. Performances 3,4, 10,11, 17,18 Dec, 26 Dec-8 Jan, 14,15, 21, 22, 28, 29 Jan, 15.30.
