Contemporary dance festival, Vienna.

Now in its ninth edition, Viennas ImpulsTanz contemporary dance festival hosts up to six performances a day, plus workshops and bodywork classes for all levels, lectures, auditions, parties and a festival lounge. Running from 13 July in a dozen venues round the Austrian capital, ImpulseTanz also features a DanceAbility teacher certification course for teaching groups with mixed and impaired abilities. Performance highlights include Dun soir un jour at the Burgtheater with Belgian group Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker & Rosas, on 13 & 15 July; As I was saying with legendary US dancer B T Jones and the Arnie Zane Dance Group at the Volkstheater on 1 & 2 Aug; and Apocalypse featuring the Brazilian/Japanese duo Ismael Ivo and Takeshi Kako 9 & 11 Aug. The acclaimed Netherlands Dance Theatre III performs a pre-festival ImPulsTanz special event on 28 June in Halle E of the MuseumsQuartier, featuring three dance-works entitled Couple of Moments, Two Faces and Birth-Day at 20.00.
