Featuring 24 productions with dance works from 15 countries including Canada, Hong Kong, Thailand, Senegal, South Africa and the USA, the 18th edition of Berlins International Contemporary Dance Festival Tanz Im August takes place at numerous venues across the city. The festival opens and closes with the restaging of two outstanding choreographies from the 1990s: Sinfonia Eroica with Michle Anne De Mey (17,18 & 19 Aug at the Schaubhne am Lehniner Platz) and Mozart/Concert Arias with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker (31 Aug-2 Sept at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele). Other highlights include I is Memory by Montreal choreographer Louise Lecavalier (18-20 Aug), B.O.B. The Final Cut by Hong Kong dancer Dick Wong (23 & 24 Aug) and Sub-Sahara (28-30 Aug) featuring dance-works from Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar and South Africa. Classes and workshops are on offer from dance professionals Georg Reischl, Mark Tompkins, Marianne Van Kerkhoven, Emil Hrvatin and Goran Sergei Prislas. The festival sommer-bar has late night live music and dance performances, as well as food, drink, massages, Internet access and a swimming pool, while the Kino Arsenal cinema screens dance films by Alain Platel, Thierry de Mey, Boris Charmatz & Raimund Hoghe. Tanz Im August venues include the Podewilssches Palais, Dock 11, Haus der Berliner Festspiele, Kulturkaufhaus Dussmann, Schaubhne am Lehniner Platz, Sophiensle, and Tanzfabrik Berlin. Admission 35-6. Festival pass 105 reduced 60.
