7-16 July 2006. The 28th annual Copenhagen Jazz Festival features almost 100 events daily, with concerts, performances and jam sessions taking place in clubs, bars, restaurants, concert halls, parks and shopping malls all over town. First up is Pat Metheny at Tivoli on 6 & 7 July, followed by Sergio Mendez on 8 July. The Opera house hosts Herbie Hancock and his Quintet on 7 July, Dianne Reeves & Trio on 10 July, Michel Camilo & Tomatito on 11 July, the Gotan Project on 13 July and Salif Keita on 15 July. The festival opening ceremony at Nytorv is followed by a street parade from Grbrodre Torv to Niels Hemmingsensgade at 13.00 on 7 July led by the Onion Brass Band.
