Critical Episodes (1957-2011)

8 Nov - 17 Feb 2013. MACBA stages an exhibition that reflects upon the periodic "systemic crises" that have affected and shaped the world of contemporary art since the late 1950s.

Drawing from its own collection, the museum presents works from genres of art that have been tested by modern times and subjected to constant change and re-evaluation. The exhibition is spread out over three floors with visitors led through a sequence of six "episodes".

The artists whose work is on display include Lara Almarcegui, Judith Barry, Dara Birnbaum, Marcel Broodthaers, Joan Brossa, Hans Haacke, Öyvind Fahlström, Andrea Fraser, Sanja Iveković, Gerhard Richter, Angela Melitopoulos, Robert Morris, Hélio Oiticica, Allan Sekula and Krzysztof Wodiczko.
