4 Nov-5 Dec 2006. Berlins Staatsballetts perform three dance works by acclaimed American choreographer Jerome Robbins (1918-1998) at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. The first piece, entitled The Concert (1956), is a comic ballet evoking the fantasies of audience members listening to Chopin etudes being played on a grand piano. It is followed by Afternoon of a Faun (1953), set in a dance studio to music by Debussy, while one of Robbins most famous works, Fancy Free, concludes the trilogy. Conceived when Robbins was just 24 years old, Fancy Free depicts the reactions of three sailors arriving in New York for the first time. Paul Connelly conducts the Berlin Staatskapelle. Admission opening night 80-8. Other performances 63-6. Show starts at 19.00 on 4, 11 & 18 Nov, at 19.30 on 9, 16 Nov & 5 Dec and at 18.00 on 26 Nov.
