The Musée Fin-de-Siècle presents an exhibition of paintings built around the notion of desire, a concept the museum says is open to numerous interpretations, from basic to noble, trivial to ideal.
The 19th and 20th-century works on display come from the collections of the Royal Museums of Fine Art, and all help to cast a different light on the exhibition's universal theme.
The paintings include The Temptation of Saint Anthony by Dalí, and The Couple by Delvaux, as well as less-well known works by Wappers, Evenepoel, Brusselmans, Stevens, Linnig and De Braekeleer.
Part of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, the centrally-located Musée Fin-de-Siècle and its collection reflect the dynamic and rapidly-changing art scene from 1868 until 1914.
