The Rijksmuseum celebrates the 60th birthday of Miffy, the much-loved little rabbit from children's books, with an exhibition by her creator, the Dutch illustrator Dick Bruna.

This is the first exhibition dedicated to Bruna (and Miffy) in the context of international art history. Among the 120 items on display are works by artists that inspired Bruna, including prints and drawings by Henri Matisse, Fernand Léger, Willem Sandberg, H.N. Werkman and Bart van der Leck.

Shown alongside these works are Bruna's book covers, posters, collages and drawings. The show sheds light into the design process behind Miffy as well as the deceptively simple but complex colour schemes employed by Bruna.
