4-8 Oct 2006. The Centro de Cultura Contempornea de Barcelona hosts a packed programme of documentary films, master-classes, seminars and events for the sixth edition of the Docpolis documentary film festival. This year Portugal is the featured country with nine documentaries dating from 1995 to the present by filmmakers including Catarina Mouro, Pedro Sena Nunes and Margarita Cardoso. A seminar entitled Cinema and Memory. Illustration, enquiry or the re-writing of history? led by Carmen Guarini runs for the duration of the festival, with film discussion sessions daily. This year the festivals parallel activities include the Delicatessen section, with films selected by programmers and directors of international documentary festivals including First Lesson in Peace from Tel Aviv, From Father to Son from Helsinki, Berlin-Beirut from Leipzig and Viejo Zorro from Santiago. Three master-classes will be held on 5, 6 & 7 Oct by Elena Rodrigo, Jacobo Sucari and Alvaro Silva respectively. The films in the official competition are up for both honorary awards, including the Audience Prize, and money prizes, with 6,000 going to the best film. Admission 4, concessions 3.
