28 Sept-1 Oct 2006. The Irish Film Institute presents the fifth edition of the documentary film festival Stranger than Fiction featuring a total of 32 films, including 20 Irish productions. Opening with the musical documentary Leonard Cohen Im Your Man dedicated to the charismatic American singer-songwriter (28 Sept at 20.30), the programme also includes Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait, a tribute to French football idol Zinedine Zidane (29, 30 Sept & 1 Oct), Our Brand is Crisis about American advisors to a former Bolivian president campaigning for re-election (29 Sept at 20.15), and Bloody Sunday. A Derry Diary, which follows the legal inquiry into the events of 30 Jan 1972 from the point of view of the families of the victims (1 Oct at 13.00). The festival also runs a documentary master-class and a short documentary competition. Admission 9, concession 8 + 1 charge to non-members. Festival pass five films 40 or ten films 70.
