25 January - 2 April 2011. The concepts of movement, space and time within the urban landscape of 1970s New York city are examined by the Argos Black Box which presents a series of filmed performances from that era.
Down Low Up High comprises a visual investigation of the informed artistic decision at the time for artists to abandon their conventional studio space in an attempt to conquer artistically the urban space around them.
The filmed interaction, response and appearance of passers-by, whose daily collective presence in the city is arguably an artistic installation in itself, reinforces the artistic importance of the protagonists' performances.
