17-26 Feb 2006. Now in its fourth edition, the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival opens with the world premiere of Irish playwright Paul Merciers feature film Studs, an action comedy following the fortunes of an amateur football club. The film has cast of top Irish actors including Brendan Gleeson, David Wilmot, Fanna Mac Liam and Liam Carney. International films on offer include LEnfant, winner of the Palme dOr at Cannes 2005, the acclaimed Capote starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, a hot favourite for Best Actor at the Oscar Awards, and the Hungarian film Johanna, a modern operatic reworking of Carl Dreyers 1928 classic The Passion of Joan of Arc. Other highlights include the Special Seasons, the Retrospectives and the Surprise Film as well as workshops, talks and guest speakers. Tickets from 8, season ticket 200.
