Early Music at Exeter by Charivari Agreable.
7 July-20 Aug 2006. Oxfords virtuoso early music ensemble, Charivari Agreable, presents over 20 concerts by candlelight in Exeter College Chapel. Highlights include the opening concert, The Three Countertenors An antidote to World Cup Fever, with music by Couperin, Monteverdi, George Gershwin, Cole Porter & Kurt Weil (7 July), a harpsichord recital of music by Pachabel, Mozart, JC Bach and Froberger entitled Mozarts Keyboard Heritage (12, 25 July & 1 Aug) and Vivaldis Stabat Mater & Nisi Dominus (19 July & 11 Aug). The 350th anniversary of the birth of French baroque composer Marin Marais is celebrated in the Mazes and Madness concerts featuring Charivari founding members Susanne Heinrich on pardessus & bass viols and Kah-Ming Ng playing harpsichord & chamber organ (25 July, 4 & 13 Aug). The festival ends with a performance of The Oxford Psalms - Domestic Devotional Anthems & Psalms from 17th-century England, featuring compositions by Purcell, Dering, Lawes and Blow sung by Rodrigo del Pozo, Simon Beston, and Nick Perfect. Admission 20-10. Concerts start at 20.00 on 7, 11, 12, 16, 18, 19, 23, 26, 28, 30 July & 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20 Aug.
