Ed Devane: Stop/Run

11-18 December 2010. Stop/Run is an installation by Dublin-based audio artist Ed Devane in which he uses five kinetic instrument-ensembles as part of his live performance.

Creative director of musical collective Second Square to None (SSTN) in addition to his solo career, Devane has designed and purpose-built his instruments for the show, all of which are amplified through the use of acoustic chambers of surrounding air.

His installation combines the talents of seven other Dublin composers, commissioned by Devane to write pieces of music to be performed on the opening night and subsequently featured in his week-long show.

Including motors, electromagnets, solenoids and piezoelectric elements, Devane's installation features contributions by Brian Conniffe, Eoin Smith, Laura Hyland, Shane McKenna, Amanda Feery, Ian McDonell and Niamh De Barra.
