4 Feb-21 May. The Stedelijk profiles the career of Ed van der Elsken (1925-1990), described by exhibition organisers as the "first true Dutch street photographer".
Van der Elsken chronicled colourful characters in Paris, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Tokyo, and was known for his bold, unconventional style.
He rose to international prominence in 1956 with Love on the Left Bank, a semi-autobiographic photographic novel about young bohemians living carefree times in post-war Paris.
