El mal d'Escriptura (The Malady of Writing) differs from many exhibitions in that it champions works of literary fiction that have failed to realise commercial success. Instead they have focused on an array of experimental novels and manuscripts that have been written by artists. As a collection, it forms a strange and eclectic library. The Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA) was founded in 1959 when art critic Alexandre Cirici Pellicer called for the creation of a museum of contemporary art in Barcelona.
