7 July-8 Oct 2006. The heady years of the socio-cultural movement known as La Movida which followed the death of fascist dictator General Francisco Franco in 1975 are the subject of this exhibition at the Museo Municipal de Arte Contemporneo. 90 portraits and a panel of 72 photos taken by Madrid photographer Pablo Prez-Mnguez between 1979 and 1985 document the explosion of liberties and hedonism of the time. Images include portraits of Pedro Almodovar, recording artist Alaska, Radio Futura, Nacha Pop, Guillermo Prez Villalta and Alvarado as well as photos of parties and concerts at Madrids legendary Rock Ola Club. Entitled Mi Movida Madrilea, the exhibition marks the 25th anniversary of the start of the movement. A complete catalogue of the exhibition is on sale for 39.50. Admission free. Tues-Sat 10.00-14.00 & 18.00-21.00 Sun & public holidays 10.30-14.00.
