30 Jan-26 Feb 2006. Artistes from Europe and South America are participating in the sixth edition of the Alternative Festival of Performance Art in venues throughout Madrid. Directed by Mateo Feijo, the festival is divided into various sections hosting international theatre, music and dance companies, plus a variety of installation and performance art events. German writer Heiner Mller (1929-1995) is this years featured author. with conferences, discussions and four Spanish theatre productions including HamletMachine celebrating his work. Participants include the Mira ! project, a collaboration of French, Spanish and Portuguese performers, with the festivals most esoteric offering: French artist Philippe Mestes Spermcube installation. At the Madrid Chamartn Renfe station, Stans Caf from Birmingham create a metaphor for the peoples of the world with their performance involving 12 tonnes of rice. The 18 venues for the festival include the Casa Encendida, Casa de Amrica, the Circulo de Bellas Artes and Teatro Pradillo. Admission 14-3 according to venue.
