19 May - 5 September 2010. The contemporary art, poster-art and architecture of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is largely unknown outside its own country. Now for the first time the western world can view these graphic works, whose designers are keen to flatter presidents Kim Il Sung and his son, Kim Jong Il. Their role in the artwork, and the State's Juche ideology, is dominant to say the least. MAK displays 100 works including oil paintings and large-format portraits of the presidents, while an architectural section includes a model of Juche Tower, the world's highest stone tower, erected in honour of Kim Il Sung
