Foreign Gods: Fascination Africa and Oceania
23 Sept-9 Jan. The Leopold Museum’s comprehensive collection of African and Oceanic art, assembled by the museum's founder Rudolf Leopold, is presented for the first time.
This large-scale exhibition displays African and Oceanic works and recalls Europe’s exotic art adventure and how the so-called "primitivist" art from foreign lands impacted on the European avant-garde movements.
The works, which include masks and figures, are displayed alongside select Classical Modernism pieces by Pablo Picasso, Constantin Brâncuși, Emil Nolde and Max Ernst.
Wed-Mon 10.00-18.00. Thurs 10.00-21.00
