Frans Post. Animals in Brazil

7 Oct-8 Jan. The Brazilian landscapes of 17th-century artist Frans Post are shown alongside dozens of stuffed animals, thanks to a special collaboration between the Rijksmuseum and the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden.

Post spent seven years, from 1636, painting the flora and fauna of Brazil.

The Rijksmuseum shows his Brazilian landscapes and preliminary sketches, as well as 34 animal drawings that were completely unknown until their recent discovery at the Noord-Hollands Archief in Haarlem.
