The Statens Museum for Kunst hosts an exhibition of French master drawings, featuring works by Gaugin, Giacometti, Dgas , Matisse, Manet, Rodin, Picasso, Cezanne and Forain, who gathered in Paris from the early 19th century to the beginning of the second world war, when the French capital was the focus for innovation and artistic debate, and modern art strived to reflect the industrial, urban and scientific changes of the modern age. Exhibition Room 1 hosts From Classical Tradition to Impressionism displaying works from the 19th century, while art from 1900 is exhibited in Room 2, Modernity and Concepts of the Ideal. Room 3 houses Avant-garde and abstraction from the years after 1900. A catalogue in English entitled French Drawings and Watercolours 19th-20th Centuries accompanies the exhibition. Cost Dkk299.
