Henry Moore (1898-1986) Retrospective.
19 Jul-29 Oct 2006. The CaixaForum hosts this extensive exhibition of the great British abstract sculptors work, with over 160 pieces on display, including sculptures, drawings and graphic work. Covering six decades of Henry Moores artistic output, this retrospective offers everything from his first carvings to the monumental pieces produced after the devastation of the second world war, which revolutionized the idea of public sculpture. Many of the larger pieces are on display outside the CaixaForum contrasting with the Modernist building. Objects found in the artists studio in Perry Green including stones, animal bones and seashells are also exhibited giving an insight into Moores working methods. The exhibition brings together numerous works from the Henry Moore Foundation, as well as pieces from public and private collections in Spain, Britain and the USA. Admission free.
