7 April-29 August. With the subtitle "Treasures From The Royal Capital of Macedon, A Hellenic Kingdom in the Age of Democracy", this exhibition showcases over 500 treasures found recently in the royal burial tombs and the palace at Aegae, the ancient capital of Macedon.
The finds, which include gold, silver and bronze artefacts, go on display for the first time outside Greece and tell the story of the royalty who ruled over Macedon, from the descendants of Heracles to the dynasty of Alexander the Great. The show is the first major archaeological exhibition in the Asmolean's new temporary exhibition galleries.
