Septembers design month in Amsterdam culminates in the Inside Design Event, where over 150 European designers will be exhibiting their work in 100 locations round Amsterdam. Unlike similar design fairs in Milan, Tokyo and London, this is not a trade-only event and in fact around 100,000 visitors from round the world are expected, both design professionals and the general public. Locations include the Rijksmuseum, well-known galleries like Droog Design and The Frozen Fountain and a myriad of interior design shops, clubs, restaurants and hotels. Described by the organizers as a low-threshold, high-quality event which offers a convenient way of enjoying cutting-edge design in beautiful surroundings, Inside Design features interior design in furniture, lighting and living accessories. Inside Design is also hosting fashion parades and lectures on food design to be held in club/restaurant 11 and on Weds 28 speakers Jan des Bouvrie and Milou Ket (Swarovski Crystal) will be debating the question What is Design? in the same venue. To guide the visitor round all the locations, 5 separate routes have been identified starting from 5 different points: Magna Plaza, Post Amsterdam, Villa Arena, WTC and TunFun. A free guide, published by the organizers of Inside Design, takes the visitor on foot, by bike or by public transport along each of the routes and is available at participating locations and tourist information offices. Admission is free.
