25 April - 27 August. A comprehensive retrospective from the last four decades of the career of James Coleman, an Irish artist concerned with perception, representation, memory and identity.
Using audiovisual media and installation, Coleman incorporates film, slides, audio narrative and soundtracks into his work which conjures up scenes from daily life and makes reference to literature, painting, theatre and cinema.
Coleman frequently proposes images which are open to more than one interpretation, inviting the viewer to participate in uncovering the works' meaning.
This exhibition at the Reina Sofia brings together a broad selection of work by the artist who represented Ireland in the 1973 Paris Biennale.
