The line-up for this annual festival includes over 400 musicians and bands, playing a wide range of jazz, soul and pop in some of Viennas top venues, such as the MuseumsQuartier, the open-air Arkadenhof of Viennas city hall, and the State Opera. The Vienna jazz festival has become a renowned urban festival since its launch in 1991, and is now considered one of the top three jazz festivals worldwide. This years massive programme features Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar & Ensemble (2 July, State Opera); Elvis Costello & The Imposters (3 July, State Opera); Pianist Chick Corea and vocalist Bobby Mc Ferrin (29 July, Austria Centre). The festival kicks-off at 17.00 on 28 June with a free-admission concert by Terry Callier & Band and the Austrian band Trio Exklusiv in the courtyard of the MuseumsQuartier.
