25 June-12 July 2007. Gato Barbieri, Juliette Greco and Al Jarreau are among the international stars performing at the 17th Vienna Jazz Festival, held in around 16 venues across the Austrian capital. The festival begins with a free concert at the MuseumsQuartier featuring legendary bluesman Taj Mahal and his trio, plus British-born soul singer Doretta Carter & Hot Pot (25 June). Other highlights include jazz greats Bobby Hutcherson and his quartet (27 June at Kammeroper), Archie Shepp (6 July at the Rathaus/Arkadenhof) and Dionne Warwick (6 July at the Wiener Staatsoper). JazzFest Wien closes with four free concerts starting at 18.00 in the square in front of the town hall: Holly Cole (9 July), Simphiwe Dana (10 July), Robin McKelle (11 July) and Malia (12 July).
