11 Sept-2 Nov 2008. This exhibition features the work of the Danish artist Jens Haaning. Haanings is particularly interested in the consequences of mixing cultures and the movement of individuals, objects or concepts across geographical and cultural boundaries. His works focus on how society is composed and how power is expressed and communicated within it. For this occasion the artist created a new work Baghdad Time, a clock on a wall on Brick Lane set to Baghdad time, which highlights economic and diplomatic relations between Britain and Iraq connected to British participation in the Iraq war. For Haaning this clock is a reminder of the situation occurring in another place, which we have the power to influence despite its geographical distance.
