20 Oct 2005-25 June 2006. Im a chameleon, Lennon used to say, refusing to allow himself to be pigeon-holed by the media. Screen images of the many faces of John Lennon greet the visitor at the entrance to this exhibition hosted by the Cit de la Musique, marking the 25th anniversary of his assassination. Divided into 13 sectors the exhibition sets the life of the musician from Liverpool in its political, cultural and musical context. It covers his childhood and adolescence, the Beatles in concert, Beatlemania, the time spent in the recording studio, his meeting with Yoko Ono and the split with the Beatles, on to the days of Peace and Love and the composition of Imagine and finally to the day of his death, with the mourners in Central Park captured movingly by the camera of Raymond Depardon. Yoko Ono has created a poetic installation, The Wish Tree, as an extension of the exhibition. There are activities for 4-6-year-olds aboard the Yellow Submarine, ticket 6, and a Practical Music workshop in a Cit de la Musique recording studio with a guitarist, a sound engineer and the music of John Lennon. 5 sessions 25 Apr-23 May 45. Admission to the exhibition 7-5.60. Tues-Sat 12.00-18.00 Sun 10.00-18.00
