Joseph Beuys

Part of the Louisiana on Paper series, this exhibition is devoted to the sketches and visual diaries of German avant-garde artist Joseph Beuys (1921-1986) whose oeuvre included Fluxus, happenings, performance and sculpture.

The exhibition reveals the draughtsman behind the installation artist who used sketches and experimental plans to work out his larger installations.

The works on show span the artist's entire career from the 1940s to the 1980s, and illustrate the vital role of small-scale designs in his work.
