From 14 September 2005. Directed by David Grindley, this Olivier-nominated production returns to the New Ambassadors Theatre after an exceptional run in the West End throughout last year. Set in the British trenches at St Quintin in 1918, the play follows a company of officers preparing for a raid across No Man's Land, ahead of a long awaited German offensive. That day saw the deaths of 38,000 men. Journey's End Based celebrates humour and courage in the face of certain tragedy and draws on the author's own experiences at the front. A poignant memento of life in the trenches, the play is an important reminder of the horrors and futility of war.
