20 Oct-28 Feb. Major retrospective dedicated to Russia's Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) who is credited with creating the world's first abstract paintings and was also a pioneer of both the Blue Rider and Bauhaus movements.
The show at CentoCentro comprises about 100 paintings, drawings and photographs from the collection of the Centre Pompidou.
The chronological exhibition spans four decades, covering key periods of Kandinsky's life and is divided into four sections: Munich 1896-1914, Russia 1914-1921, Bauhaus 1921-1933, Paris 1933-1944.
Highlights include important Kandinsky works such as Alte Stadt II (1902), Lied (1906), Improvisation III (1909), Im Grau (1919), Gelb-Rot-Blau (1925) and Bleu de ciel (1940).
