6 February - 24 May 2010. This exhibition examines the art movement known as 'Der Blaue Reiter' whose brightly coloured paintings caused a storm in early twentieth century Munich. These artists were to be the front-runners of Expressionism and chief among them was Russia's Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) who is credited with creating the world's first abstract paintings.
