10 Feb-1 Apr 2006. Creation Theatre Company presents Shakespeares poetic tragedy King Lear at the BMW Group Plant in Oxford. Director Douglas Rintoul, fresh from his associate directorship at the Barbican with Deborah Warner, gives a modern context to this story of a brutal struggle for power. The aging King Lear divides his realm between his three daughters: Cordelia, Regan and Goneril, and the ensuing power struggle threatens to engulf the entire nation. Lears loving daughter, Cordelia, is exiled, yet from this tragic tale a glimmer of hope still emerges for the redemption of mankind. Starring Stephen Ley as King Lear and Jenni Maitland as Cordelia.
