Kusama Installation at Louisiana

1 Aug-23 Oct. The Lousiana showcases Gleaming Lights of the Souls by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, one of the most popular pieces of its permanent collection. Dating from 2008, the 4-sqm installation comprises a single space whose walls and ceilings are covered with mirrors and whose floor is a reflecting pool of water. Adding to the psychedelic effect, there are 100 lamps resembling glowing ping pong balls hanging from the ceiling.

Born in 1929, the reclusive Kusama describes herself as an "obsessive artist" and her work incorporates elements of conceptual art, pop art and abstract expressionism, to name but a few.
