7 September 2009 - 21 February 2010. Amsterdam's unique Hendrikje Museum of Bags and Purses presents the history of the western ladies bag from the late Middle Ages to modern times, explaining visually how the concept of the bag has changed over the centuries in terms of practicality and aestheticism. British designers of bags have long been recognised for their innovation and craftsmanship, with many of them household names on the global design scene. 'Made in Britain' showcases bags from the recent collections of Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney and includes British brands such as Mulberry and Burberry.
