22 November - 16 January 2011. This selection of paintings from the Phillips Collection of Washington D.C. constitutes a comprehensive snapshot of the history of American art from the mid-19th to mid-20th century.

In 1921 collector Duncan Phillips founded an art museum in Washington D.C. which housed a collection of European and North American paintings. Phillips' patronage of the arts was not constrained to any particular style or movement allowing him to assemble an expansive and diverse collection of paintings.
