The 23rd Festival de Jazz de Madrid features international jazz names including Keith Jarret, Gary Peacock, Jamie Cullum, Herbie Hancock and Luis Salinas as well as renowned Spanish musicians such as Martirio, Jorge Pardo and Perico Sambeat. The first event in the official programme of 35 concerts at the Centro Cultural de la Villa, the Teatro Real and the Madrid Palacio de Congresos is by Chano Domnguez with his New Flamenco Sound on 3 Nov. Around 155 gigs, concerts and events will be held in live music clubs across Madrid in tandem with the official festival including Bogui Jazz, Clamores, Caf Central, El Junco, El Despertar, La Boca del Lobo, Moe, Populart, Rincn del Arte Nuevo, Segundo Jazz, Siroco, Taboo and Zanzbar. This year also sees the introduction of a new event, El jazz visita a Cervantes, which offers musical guided tours of two of Madrids most picturesque areas: Madrid de los Austrias and the Barrio de Las Letras. Jazz film nights, a retrospective of Algerian-born director Tony Gatlifs work and films on Spanish and Brasilian music complete the programme. Admission various.
